Over the last 50 years the Napier Bridge Club has seen huge changes in both the social and technical aspects of playing bridge. There are however two things which never change - the delight in playing the game itself, and the conviviality between the players. These remain as strong as ever and take us into the next 50 years in good heart.

It is with great sadness I wish to inform you all that Ken Carmichael passed away on Friday night, the 13 September 2024. He was a great member of our club and contributed significantly to the sessions on Tuesday's and Friday's.
At Ken's memorial gathering we learnt the meaning of the word 'Mensa'. It means someone with an IQ in the top 2%, something that qualified Ken to enter the prestigious TV show of the 1990's decribed as a 'nerd's pentathlon, The Krypton Factor.
Ken was a teacher, a farmer, a sportsman, a bridge master, a poet and most improved croquet player last season.
He will be sadly missed by so many people.
On behalf of Napier Bridge Club we send healing prayers and comfort during this time to Kens' family and friends.
A lovely photo from January 2024 when Ken played with his sister, Glenys Dean and won the Opening Session
